Cell phone annoyance takes to the air!

There are few things in life that bother me more than people that walk around with a Cell Phone growing our of their ear. Everywhere I go, there someone being obnoxious on their cell phone, and its highly annoying.. Why do people do this? Do they think its cool? Its not folks, cell phones were cool 10 years ago when nobody had them, now they mean nothing to other people, so stop looking around thinking you are cool.

I must profess; I’m guilty of propagating cell phones like baby hamsters. I was a wireless sales god at a company I worked for from 1997-2003. I made a lot of money selling cell phones, and was treated like royalty at all of the major carriers – Sprint even sent me to Vegas, all expenses paid, for a full week! ($600 a night Hotel too) I think I sold somewhere around 1,000+ phones per year, at a commission rate of $45.00 per phone – which was about 25%. Do the math, that’s about $350,000.00 in just cell phone sales commission, paid out to me in cash in addition to my base salary and overtime.

Despite all of that, I’ve never, ever, personally owned a cell phone, nor do I want one, and never have wanted one. So I’m very biased against them, and I make no claims otherwise. 90% of the time when you see a car moving erratically, someone is on the cell phone behind the wheel. The worst type, are the people making hand gestures while driving down the road 60MPH on the phone – like the person on the other end can even see them? What the heck is that about? That’s as bad as people who lean in their car when they turn. Then we can compound that with people opening their colorful and BRIGHT cell phones in the movie theater. Or people that talk LOUD on their Cell phone, like we care to hear what they are saying.

I’m of the logic that they serve no great purpose, and only distract people from more important things, like driving. If anyone needs to get ahold of me, there is always work and home, if I’m anywhere else, then chances are I don’t want to talk to you anyway! Why don’t more people think this way? Least of which there is plenty of evidence that cell phones cause tumors (they do have huge radiation output). There's a wealth of evidence they cause car accidents. There have also been plenty of phones suddenly blowing up on peoples heads.

Now to add to the insanity, they want to allow these annoyances on airlines? How long before we hear about them interfering with the planes instruments and causing crashes? Its clear the cell phone lobby, in cahoots with the Bush administration are doing this out of pure profit motivation.

Count me out!
