I've really had it with copy protection. As a gamer that BUYS his games, i'm incredibly inconvenienced with horribly obnoxious copy protection to the point I don't even feel like buying games anymore! They should start putting the type of copy protection on the outside of boxes, so I can make my buying decision with this method. Consider that I have two children, and both play games. Even with caution, kids scratch CD's, its just a part of life. So with protection schemes that require the...
New Page 1 One of my all-time favorite games, is without a doubt, the original "Pirates!" by Sid Meier. I'd venture a guess, this game is on the top 10 best games list of every gamer that grew up playing games during the timeframe it was released - mid eighties I believe. It was with great anticipation that I awaited the return of Pirates! last week.. Finally, we'd see an updated, and amazing version of the original, done with current technology. Sid was at the helm of this new ve...
I've noticed a trend in recent years that is pretty disturbing. In general its like the mentality, IQ, and general attitude of PC gamers you meet online is about 100x worse than it was 10 years ago. I can't quite figure out what would cause this, other than PC gaming is pretty mainstream now, and years ago it was mostly powerusers gaming. Becoming mainstream more seems to have brought in every childish brat or crybaby, hacker and poor sport in the world. For example I got into the SWAT ...

But then again, lists are nothing more than opinions I guess. But I consider myself a gamer with very discerning tastes, I like games with challenge, and I like them with depth. I don't like easy or pretty games with no backbone. So with that in mind, here are my picks of 2004 for PC gaming.

New Page 1 Even before I worked at Stardock, I loved Stardock games.. I have a very short list of games I keep around and play, but one game that keeps coming back for more around here, is Political Machine. The election is long over, but the game lives on, and its something we play around my house quite regularly. I can't explain why, its just a very entertaining product, it has slick and stylish graphics, pleasing mechanics, and a difficulty level that makes it a challenge. All...
I'm a huge proponent of Digital Distribution, I love it. If I can buy a software product online, download it, and have it up and running without the inconvience of driving to the store or waiting for it to be mailed, I will do it. However I have a few specific things that I require from digital purchases I make. 1) The product MUST be cheaper than in the store or from mail order companies. Giving up a nice CD/DVD, Box and glossy printed manual (which I read) should come with a lower p...
